Alabama and Texas battle to a 3-3 standoff in the Bluebonnet Bowl at Rice Stadium in Houston. A field goal by Tommy Brooker provided the Crimson Tide with its only three points of the afternoon but quarterback Bobby Skelton is convinced he scored a touchdown that would have been the difference in losing and wining. "I had chalk all over my jersey when I got up," said Skelton. "I was in there." The officials think otherwise and in the second bowl trip by a Paul Bryant coached team, Bama returns home with a tie.
